Potatoes and Onions don't belong in the refrigerator. It's too cold, will encourage sprouting, and the gases emitted by them will reduce the lifespan of your other produce quicker. Keep potatoes and onions separate
from each other in a cool, dry, dark place. You'll always have them ready for cooking! Note: Cut onions should be kept in the fridge, but away from other produce.
Additional comment: After moving onions and potatoes out of my vegetable bin in fridge, my lettuce is still fresh after nearly three weeks!
